    Notes:
    Autograph letter, signed, describing French naval operations. Approximately half of the letter is written in numerical code, paragraphs of which are interspersed between lines of manuscript text. In the opening paragraph La Luzerne mentions Benedict Arnold's activities in the Chesapeake Bay. The letter is dated at the head of the first page, and is signed by La Luzerne at the bottom of the third page. The numberical code has been translated into French in another hand. The fourth page is blank. Title supplied by cataloger.
