Part 1 contains: (ff. 1r-13v and 20r-50v) Medical recipes
(German).
Part 2 contains: (ff. 14r-19v) Medical recipes (German).
Part 3 contains: (ff. 51r-54v) Medical recipes and remedies (Latin,
German).
Part 4 contains: (ff. 55r-64v) Medical recipes and remedies
(German). Incomplete, starts in the middle of a sentence. - Also
contains notes and added recipes in various (later) hands.
Part 5 contains: (ff. 65r-66v) Medical recipes (German). - Also
contains at the end a note in Yiddish (Hebrew script).
Part 6 contains: (ff. 67r-70v) Medical recipes and remedies
(German). Excerpt taken from a printed book (Strasbourg 1519). -
Also contains extensive notes in Yiddish (Hebrew script).
Part 7 contains: (ff. 71r-72v) Medical recipes and remedies
(German).
Part 8 contains: (ff. 73r-87v) Medical recipes and remedies
(German). One quire with a main text, on the first and last leaves
of the quire short texts and notes that were added later.
Part 9 contains: (ff. 88r-149v) Probably Book 4 of Avicenna's Canon
medicinae (German). - Also contains medical recipes. - (ff.
150r-153r) Alphabetical index (Latin); added later. Note:
Collation: Manuscript composed of many parts, probably copied in
the 15th and 16th century. Some parts, especially parts 5 and 6,
were probably bound together at an earlier stage. After all the
parts were bound together, more notes and additions were made in
several hands (in the 16th and 17th century?). - Part 7 (ff. 71-72)
consists of two inserted leaves. - Part 8 (ff. 79-87) is one quire.
- Part 9 (ff. 72-133) consists of five quires, numbered 1-5,
probably in one hand, with one continuous text. The last quire
contains additions in various hands with medical recipes and
notes.
Date: (part 2) Based on a simple decoration on f. 19r with the year
1519. - (part 6) Dating based on the colophon on f. 70r: "Getruckt
zum Strasburg durch Johannem knoblauch nach der geburt Christi
M.D.xix".
Binding: Medieval binding, contemporary. - Parchment cover, no
boards; tacketed. Limp binding. - A parchment leaf of an
unidentified manuscript (liturgical, 15th century) has been reused
as a cover. - Parts 5 and 6 are bound together with paper
strips.
