Description
  • The 'Clarke Plato', one of the oldest and most important witnesses for the text of this author, was written by John the Calligrapher in A.D. 895 for Arethas the deacon, originally a native of Patras, who later became archbishop of Caesarea in Cappadocia. Most of the marginal notes in the so-called half-uncial script were added by Arethas himself.
