Orderly book of the 7th Company of the 6th Massachusetts Regiment
kept by Stephen Barritt. Included are regimental, brigade, and
general orders, morning reports, etc. The book contains John
Nixon's Address to officers and soldiers of his brigade ( October
23, 1779). Biographical Note:
Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Whiting commanded the 7th Company of the
6th Massachusetts regiment. The regiment was created on November 1,
1776 and served until it was disbanded on June 12, 1783. The
regiment was attached to General Nixon's brigade. Nixon's brother,
Colonel Thomas Nixon commanded the regiment until Jan. 1, 1781. Subjects:
