Autograph letter, signed in Washington's secretary's hand.
Washington compliments Destouches on his skills and near-success
against the English ships, led by Admiral Arbuthnot, on March 16 in
Chesapeake Bay. George Washington's name appears at the end of the
letter, but is written in his secretary's hand. The letter is dated
New Windsor, March 31, 1781, at the top of the first page. Title
