Textual: Spiegel historiael is rhymed chronicle in Middle Dutch,
based on the Speculum historiale by Vincent of Beauvais. In the
years 1284-1289 Jacob van Maerlant wrote the First and Third Part
and the beginning of the Fourth Part. The work was left unfinished
at Maerlant's death, but continuations were made by Philip
Utenbroeke (Second Part) and Lodewijk van Velthem (rest of Fourth
Part and Fifth Part).
