    Wooden tablets (I-VII) covered with dark wax on both sides, except for the 'recto' of the first tablet. Known as "Assendelft wax tablets" or "Tabulae ceratae assendelftianae", after its last owner H. van Assendelfft de Coningh (died 1882).
    Date: Found in Palmyra (Syria), which was destroyed by the Roman emperor Aurelian in 273.
