  • Provenance: 1. Probably written at the Benedictine abbey of the BVM, Reading, Berkshire, c. 1200 after the compilation of the booklist of c.1190–95, from which it is absent. 2. Henry VIII, on the evidence of the binding. (cf. Carley, The libraries of King Henry VIII, p. xxxvii). 3. Queen’s College: inscribed with the Old Library shelfmark ‘84.7’ on the front and back pastedowns, included in Langbaine’s mid-17th-century catalogue.
    Contents: Prologues and other short pieces (ff. 1r–3v). Gospel of Matthew, with marginal and interlinear Glossa ordinaria (ff. 3v–90r). Blank leaf (f. 90v). Six prologues (f. 91r–92r). Gospel of Mark (ff. 92r–131r). Blank page (f. 131v). John Scot, Homily on ‘In principio erat Verbum’ [John 1:1] (f. 132r–139r). Blank page (f. 139v). Added 13th-century leaves (ff. 140r–142v). Added notes (ff. 142v–143v).
    Hand: Fine early gothic script.
