- Description
-
- Summary:
Manuscript 26, dating from circa 1200, was gifted to Ten Duinen Abbey by Magister Walter de Haltere (13th - 14th century). The manuscript contains the Glossa ordinaria on the Old Testament texts of Proverbs, Sermons and the Song of Songs. The texts are provided with interlinear and marginal glosses. The illuminated initials in this manuscript indicate the beginning of each book. They are laid out in a similar pattern throughout the manuscript. A golden, brown or blue frame around the initial letter. This initial is formed by stylized monsters, plant tendrils or dog heads. [Summary by Sarah Vanroye]
