Summary:
Manuscript 512 contains the Book of Optics or De aspectibus by Ibn
al-Haytham (965 - 1039). It dates from the thirteenth century. The
manuscript was part of the merged libraries of Ter Doest and Ten
Duinen Abbey. In De aspectibus Ibn al-Haytham discusses his
theories on optics, light and how mirrors and lenses work. His
writings are based on his experiments, laying the groundwork for
the theory on perspective. The manuscript contains mathematical
