Description

• Marking nobility. Spanish (Gumiel de Mercado, near Burgos), c. 1640. Red goatskin, decorated with close gilt tooling. When official documents of great significance to a family (like this Patent of Nobility) were produced, highquality workmanship was employed to signify the newly elevated social status of the owner.
