Description
  • Summary:
Manuscript 441, dating from the second half of the fifteenth century, contains the notebook of Adrianus But (1437-1488). Adrianus But was a monk and chronicler at Ten Duinen Abbey, where the manuscript was kept. The notebook contains his notes on contemporary events and trends throughout his life. He kept the notebook until 1483. The manuscript also contains well-known and lesser known philosophical and theological treatises; treatises on rhetoric and speeches, and sermons. This includes texts by Heymeric de Campo (1395-1460), David Judocus (second half of the 15th century), Nicholas of Amiens (1147 - c. 1203), Jacobus Izelgrinus (second half of the 15th century) and Godefridus Altissiodorensis (1115/20 - 1188). Finally, the notebook also includes letters from popes and other prominent figures, as well as letters addressed to But when he was studying in Paris (1463-1464). One such letters was sent by Walterus Vossaert (second half of the 15th century). [Summary by Sarah Vanroye]
