Written for a Cistercian monastery in Spain or Southern France
(Catalonia) at the end of the 12th century as indicated by the
Sanctoral which agrees with Cistercian usage. The script, plain
decoration, and details of spelling and abbreviation conventions
also suggest a Spanish or southern French origin between 1185 and
1200, likely pre-1191.
Leaves [173-187] were added in 1603 (cf. date on leaf [187]), and
leaves [188-189] followed in the eighteenth century.
