  • Extent: ff. 110. 215 x 155 mm. Written area 130 x 95 mm.
    Layout: 21 long lines, ruled in violet.
    Decoration: Fine borders, initials. (P&A iii. 809) Illuminated initials in blue, green, red and gold, with partial border on fols. 3, 19, 25, 40, 56, 75, 96, similar smaller initials with red and violet flourishes. There are instructions for the illuminator at fols. 19, 55v, 63v, 74v, and 95v, but the miniatures were not executed.
    Binding: 19th-cent. black polished leather over pastboards; the spine letered in gilt 'PRECES
    PIÆ'.
    Provenance: Made in the North of England for the use of a lady (?). The formulae of the prayers are not consistently masculine or feminine, but in one of the additions (fol. 71) the name Iohanna occurs. Bought, 1926.
