Description
  • Summary:
Manuscript 105 holds a collection of works by Saint Augustine (354-430). These are the following: (ff. 1v-38v) Contra academicos vel De academicis; (ff. 38v-69v) De ordine rerum; (ff. 70r-81v) De beata vita; (ff. 81v-94r) De duabus animabus (contra Manicheos); (ff. 94v-105v) Contra Fortunatum Manicheum; (ff. 105v-114v) De fide ac simbolo; (ff. 115r-136r) De utilitate credendi ad Honoratum; and (ff. 136r-149v) De natura boni. The manuscript was written in the first quarter of the thirteenth century, probably in Ten Duinen. The text is copied in two columns without any decorum. Only at the beginning of each text, and within of each book, is indicated by a large, monochrome decorated initial in either red or green ink. Rubrics are used for the incipits and explicits. Marginal notes are scarce, with the exception of the last text. The codex is bound in an early Cistercian binding from the twelfth or thirteenth century. [Summary by Dr. Mark Vermeer]
