Description
  • Start of text. White vine-stem border with bird, butterfly and coat of arms with ox head.
Humanistic script. The simple vine-stem borders are related to the style of Filippo Torelli, better known for his decoration of elaborate choir-books. The strange black and white bird and delicated butterfly are typical of those found in his borders. The coat of arms may be those of Niccolo de Meleto, a Florentine merchant who lived in Bologna, and was a client of Vespasiano de Bisticci.
