  • This is a composite manuscript of three parts. The first part, ff. 2r-45r, is a copy of the Peterborough Chronicle, copied in the 2nd half of the 14th century with a continuation added in the 17th century. The second part, ff. 46r-134r, includes William of Malmesbury's (b. c. 1080, d. 1143) Gesta Pontificum Anglorum (Deeds of the Bishops of the English) and Vita Sancti Aldhelmi Episcopi (Life of the Blessed Bishop Aldhelm) and a genealogy of King Henry II of England (r. 1154-1189), copied between the 4th quarter of the 12th century and 1st quarter of the 13th century. The third part, ff. 135r-199v, is a collection of saints' lives, copied between the 4th quarter of the 12th century and 1st quarter of the 13th century. ff. 2r-45r : Pseudo-John of Peterborough (fl. 1369), Peterborough Chronicle from AD 654-868, 890-1368. ff. 46r-129v: William of Malmesbury (b. c. 1080, d. 1143), Gesta Pontificum Anglorum. ff. 129v-133v: William of Malmesbury, Vita Sancti Aldhelmi Episcopi. f. 134r: Genealogy of King Henry II of England (1154-1189). ff. 135r-138r: Anonymous, Vita Sancti Erkenwaldi Episcopi (Life of the Blessed Bishop Erkenwald). ff. 138r-141r: Anonymous, Vita Sancte Wenefrede Virginis (Life of the Blessed Virgin Winifred). ff. 141r-145v: Anonymous, Miracula Sancte Wenefrede Virginis (Miracles of the Blessed Virgin Winifred). ff. 145v-160v: Anonymous, Vita Sancti Neoti Abbatis (Life of the Blessed Abbot Neot). ff. 160v-199v: William of Malmesbury (b. c. 1080, d. 1143), Vita Sancti Wulfstani Episcopi (Life of the Blessed Bishop Wulfstan). The manuscript contains a few later additions: f. 1r: An early modern table of contents, added in the so-called 'Stylized Hand' in the library of Sir Robert Cotton (b. 1571, d. 1631). ff. 5v-9r: A continuation of the Peterborough Chronicle for the years AD 869-899, copied in the 1st quarter of the 17th century.f.45v: Texts and pen trials in Latin and Middle English, added in the 15th and 16th centuries. f. 200r: A note with date and foliation added in 1876.
