Description
  • Summary:
Manuscript 365 contains two collections of Decretals. It dates back to c. 1280-1290. Dune crosses indicate that it was part of the Ter Doest and Ten Duinen merged libraries. Firstly, the manuscript contains the Decretales Gregorii IX which was tasked to Raymond of Penyafort (1175/80 - 1275) by Pope Gregory IX ca. 1170 - 1241. The collection of decretals contains five thematic book: index, iudicium, clerus, connubia, crimen. Bernard of Botone (d. 1263-) wrote the Glossa ordinaria for the Decretales Gregorii IX until his death in 1263. Secondly, the manuscript also contains the Nove constitutiones which were written by Pope Innocent IV (c. 1195 - 1254). Bernard of Compostella (13th century) wrote the glosses for the Nove constitutiones. At the front of the manuscript there are two stemmae. One shows the degrees of blood relations in the form of a family tree. The other shows the degrees of kinship between the progeny of brothers and sisters. Above the latter, on Folio 3r, there is a miniature which features a noble couple on either side of a blooming tree with fruits. A dog is chasing a hare in the border of the picture.
