Illuminated coat of arms at fol. [a1r] with two shields - the first one is divided into four quarters, in the first and fourth quarters a rising lion on blue background; in the second and third two red Greek frets on white background; the second shield has a rampant lion on golden background; both shields are encircled in a laurel crown, supported by two angels.
Armorial bookplate of The John Rylands Library 1894 on front paste-down and oval leather label: E Bibliotheca Spenceriana; from the collection of George John, 2nd Earl Spencer (1758-1834).
Condition:
Imperfect, missing leaves [s8] and [t6] (blank); pages washed erasing inscriptions and annotations in ink; first few leaves repaired;
Additions:
RVF 136-138 fully crossed out by pen both in the alphabetical index and at fols. [g1v] and [g2r].
