Abstract:
Personal notebook by nineteenth-century Christian Hebraist scholar M.G. Camilleri (of Warrington, Lancashire), in which he provides a glossary of all the Hebrew words as they occur in Genesis followed by their English translation with the verb forms being parsed. The glossary contains as many as 6,037 numbered items. The notebook came eventually into the possession of Bishop of Manchester James Prince Lee (1804-1869).
Foliation:
After two fly-leaves, 9 folios are paginated at top centre margin with Roman numerals I-XVIII. Pagination of the next 155 folios is in Arabic numerals at top centre margin of each page. Those folios are numbered as follows: 1-116 (58 folios) then 109-302 (97 folios, whereby two pages are numbered 112 and page 302 is partially stuck to back paste-down).

Note(s):
The notebook starts with a brief preface in which M.G. Camilleri explains a few aspects of Biblical Hebrew grammar (I, IV-VI) such as the cantillation signs and ketiv/qere (I). The rest of pages I-IX are blank. The main text consists of a glossary in which vocalised biblical words are listed alphabetically as they occur in Genesis followed by their English translation with the verb forms having been parsed. Subheadings consist of the first two Hebrew letters of the words listed under them. The glossary comprises as many as 6,037 numbered items. The numbering jumps from 2637 to 2869 at the point where the pagination changes from 109 to 116 (between folio 58 and 59, subheading וכ). This shows how Camilleri must have pieced the notebook together from at least two glossaries produced by him.
