    Note:
Origin: General appearance of penwerk decoration (communication A.M. As-Vijvers, 2023) and calendar (use of Utrecht, with Jeronus, 17 August, in red), point to the southern part of Holland. Probably made for a canoness regular, in view of Augustine of Hippo's special commemoration in the calendar (feasts on 28 August and 11 October in red), the Windesheim version of the responsories in the Office of the Dead ("Libera me domine de morte" instead of the Utrecht variant "Ego sum resurrectio", cf. Kortweg 2013) and the Dutch rubrics of some prayers.
    Collation: 1 (1*), III (2*-7*), IV+1 (8-11, 12-15), 20IV (16-160), V-1 (161-169,), 10IV (171-250), IV (251-258), 3 (259-261). - Catchwords visible on ff. 96v, 112v, 120v, 128v, 136v, 144v, 178v, 186v, 194v, 202v 210v, 218v, 226v. - Leaf missing between ff. 169 and 171 (cut out after foliation?): last part of psalm 108 (109): 23-31 ("locustae. Genua mea infirmata sunt a jejunio ... ut salvam faceret a persequentibus animam meam").
Decoration: One 8-line blue initial on a decorated gold ground, combined with painted decoration over three borders, indicating psalm 1, Beatus vir, beginning of the psalter and of Sunday matins (f. 1r). - Eleven 7-line gold initials on a decorated ground of blue and old pink, combined with painted decoration over two borders: six at the beginning of psalm 26, 38, 52, 68, 80 and 97, indicating matins and lauds of Monday-Saturday (ff. 35r, 56v, 77r, 97v, 123r, 146r); one at the beginning of psalm 109 indicating Sunday vespers (f. 170r ); two at the beginning of psalm 51 and 101 (ff. 75v, 170r); and two at the beginning of the canticles and the hymns (f. 221v, 251r). - Alternate red and blue initials (3/4 lines), some with touches of green in the centre and combined with alternate blue and red penwork, indicating the vespers of Monday-Saturday (ff. 176r, 194v, 197v, 200v, 206v, 213v). - Alternate red and blue initials (3 lines), combined with alternate blue and red penwork, indicating terce, sext and none (ff. 182r, 186r, 189v). - Alternate red and blue initials (2/3 lines), combined with alternate blue and red penwork, indicating the calendar months, remaining psalms, canticles and hymns. - Psalm 118 'Beati immaculati' is divided into 21 parts, each indicated with a 2-line penwork inital (f. 179v-193v). - Alternate red and blue versals.
Decoration: Influences from South-Holland or Delft penwork: 'driehoekjes' built with vertical lines and 'wimpers' (but without 'tangetje'); cf. Korteweg 1989: 68; 58). Some resemblance to details (but not the entire composition) of South-Holland penwork (c.1440-1460) in codex The Hague, KB, 130 E 18.
Binding: Post-medieval binding (18th century). - Leather (spine and corners, red) and paper over cardboard. Sewing supports broken in several places: ff. 96/97, 112/113. 120/121, 169/171).
Calendar: Saints in red include: pontiani mr (14.1), pancracii mr (12.5), servacii ep/cf (13.4), Bonifacii ep et socii eius (5.6), Odulphi cf (12.6), lebuini cf (25.6), translatio sancti martini ep (4.7), laurentii mr (10.8), Jeronis mr (17.8), Augustini ep (28.8), lamberti ep/mr (17.9), Remigius et bavonis (1.10), Dyonisii et socii eius mr (9.10), translatio sancti augustini ep (11.10), Willibrordi ep/cf (7.11), Martini ep/cf (11.11), lebuini cf (12.11).
