Description
  • One leaf with painted symbolical representations of alchemical processes and Dutch inscriptions and mottoes. Tower represented in perspective, seen from above, with door in the lower part. In the centre are figures of a man and woman representing the sun and moon. The sun holds two keys and the moon one (to the doors above?). In the upper part of the tower, three rows of battlements. In the centre of the inner wall (red), a golden tree grows out of flames. In its branches is a two-faced king holding sceptre. On either side of the tree are the sun and the moon on a blue background. Scrolls carry inscriptions in Dutch. Archer by the side of the door in the innermost wall. Between the black exterior wall and the white one are a lion and a corpse with its soul departing (depicted as a naked figure). Outside the door in the black wall is a ram.
    This manuscript contains a collection of manuscript fragments dating from the 8th to the 17th century.
