- Detail. Top of roll. Text: beginning of month of January. Coloured
drawing as headpiece. Crucifixion (variation). Christ crucified on
an oak tree, blood dripping from his wounds. Coat of arms (sable
(?) on a chevron argent (?), between three oak leaves proper, three
acorns or slipped vert) surrounded by scroll and wreath of oak
branches with acorns. On either side of oak where Christ is
crucified, inscription 'W' and 'den', referring to the owner of the
roll, William Okeden. Decorated initials with penwork
flourishing.
Inscription at the end of the roll: 'Iste Kalendare constat Willelmo Okeden', and reference to his marriage on Oct. 3, 1455 (n.s.).
