  • Carolingian copy of Eusebius, Chronicon, with Middle High German verses added on ff. 9 and 156, and corrections and several additions in a humanistic hand. Quires lettered at the end.
    Provenance: Pietro Donato (1380-1447) former owner; John Tiptoft (1427-1470) former owner; at Merton by 1556.
    Contents: Front pastedown: fragment of a glossed civil law text, 13th c. [not photographed]; Prologue (ff. 1-4); Two treatises: ‘Interpretatio sancti Hieronimi de nominibus gentium’ and 'Demensuratio provinciarum' (ff. 4v-8); ‘Cumque intuerentur in celum euntem illum dixerunt aeria’ with neums, 12th c (f. 8v); Passage in Middle High German verse 14th c (f. 9); Eusebius, Chronicon (ff. 9v-149); Four tables of chronological summaries (ff. 149v-155); Middle High German verses, 20 lines 14th c (f. 156rv). Corrections and additions in a humanistic hand (English?) c. 1500 (ff. iv, 9v, 10, 20v, 148v).
