Description
  • Text: Matins (Hours of the Virgin). Historiated initial 'D(omine) with Virgin and Child, bust length. Body of initial with gold acanthus and gems. Decorated panel border on all sides with garlands and foliate motifs. In left border: vase of lilies. In upper border: 'IHS' monogram in medallion. In right border: three prophets, two holding scrolls inscribed 'SACHIEL' (?) (Ezekiel?) and 'SACER' (?) (Zacharias?). In lower border: two kneeling angels support wreath enclosing blank shield. Size of folios:c. 117 x 89 mm.
    Illumination closely related to the style of Giovanni di Giuliano Boccardi and to that of Mariano del Buono di Jacopo (1433-1504?).
