- Paris Romanesque binding, c.1150. Blind-tooled sheepskin used over
wooden boards with different patterns in the upper and lower covers
made up from separate tools showing animals and monsters, such as
the two rows of mermaids on the upper and the border of dragons on
the lower. The centre of the lower cover has Samson killing a
lion.
The binding is contemporary with the binding.
