- Description
-
As J.H. Round recognised, this is the only surviving fragment of the Journals of the Cromwellian ‘House of Lords’, which it is presumed was ordered to be destroyed at the Restoration. The leaves have been folded in half, possibly to serve as wrappers, although there is no other sign of such use. In the Museum of London, among the Cromwelliana in the Tangye Collection, is a volume of the draft minutes taken in the House by the Clerk of the Table, which were used in the compilation of the Journals.
