  • Anonymous motet for 3 voices, 2 violins and bass, copied early eighteenth-century. Later eighteenth-century hands have added the ascription 'Iaco. Carissimi', but the attribution remains doubtful.
    Extent: ii + 12 + ii. 450 x 293 mm.
Hand: Italic script copied in score by Richard Goodson Jr.
Decoration: No decoration except for two parallel fillets at edges; at the centre of the upper cover, a red leather inset is tooled in gold: 'IN TE DOMINE / SPERAVI / JACO. CARISSIMI'.
Binding: Late eighteenth-century binding of white parchment over boards. The volume was bound at Christ Church as part of an uncompleted binding project intended to protect previously unbound items from the Aldrich and Goodson bequests. No trace remains of any earlier binding.
