Binding:
Original binding in brown leather with blind-tooling decorations on boards. Remains of leather strips attached to boards for fastening. Modern repairs to the corners.
Decoration:
Decorations in the margin to mark the beginning of the next parashah and usually also Rashi's commentary on that parashah on folios 8b, 14a, 19b, 23b, 28b, 33b, 38a, 45a, 48b, 60b, 68a, 75b/76a, 82a, 88a, 93b, 99b, 107a, 113b, 124b, 131b, 138a, 146a, 151b, 158a, 164b, 167a, 169a, 172a.
Decoration of the beginning of the books of Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy on respectively folios 1b, 53b and 118a.
Acquisition:
Acquired by The John Rylands Library from the heirs of Moses Gaster in 1954.
Layout:
The main text consisting of Bible, Targum and Tafsir is in two columns with between 21 and 27 written lines.
Rashi's Bible commentary is placed in the bottom part of the page and written in two columns of usually between 9 and 12 lines.
Collation:
Catchword in the bottom left corner of the recto and verso of each page relating to the text of Rashi. Whenever there is only one column with Rashi text, an extra catchword relating to the long Bible column is sometimes added.
Script:
Yemenite square script of varying sizes according to the importance of the text.

Abstract:
Trilingual Bible in Hebrew, Aramaic (Targum Onkelos) and Judeo-Arabic (Sa'adia Gaon's Tafsir) containing the last three books of the Pentateuch (Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy) accompanied by Rashi's commentary and, on most pages, by extensive paratext. The various languages alternate verse by verse. Only the Hebrew and Aramaic passages are vocalised with Tiberian and Babylonian (supralinear) vocalisation respectively. The paratext includes quotations from the Bible commentary of the Ba'al ha-Turim. The full contents of the paratext remain to be established. Folio 1a contains a liturgical poem. The texts are a continuation of Gaster Hebrew MS 322.

Modern pencil foliation in Arabic numerals at the top outer corner of side a of each folio.

Paper. Front and back fly-leaf with watermark and counter-watermark: folio i De Mo[...] Vittorio and folio ii crescent moon with face in shield. Folios 145 and 152 appear to be different, in pulp and size.
Provenance:
Handwritten label on spine reading in 3 lines in Hebrew: "ויקרא דברים / תימן ".
Folio ia: Handwritten in black ink "No. 2 / M. Gaster / 323".
Folio 1a: Handwritten in black ink "M. Gaster / 323 "and number 2 added in blue crayon.

Condition:
Water damage particularly visible on the side of the folios. Several folios have been repaired with modern paper (i.e. folios 1-3, 21, 29, 36, 38-40, 43, 59, 60, 83, 99, 100, 105, 119, 123-126, 130, 143-150, 154, 156-158, 161-162, 164-168, 174). On folio 145a the repair paper containes some Hebrew printed letters.
Additions:
Folio 1a: liturgical poem added by a different hand. Incipit: "[...] לבי פתח בתורתך".Folios 29a and 119a: on the repair paper a different hand has added some missing text.
