Ubaldo Meroni in the catalogue of the Mostra dei Codici Gonzagheschi (held in the Biblioteca Comunale, Mantua, 18th Sept.-10th Oct. 1966), pp. 37 and n. 93, 51, 52(1), suggests that these codices probably came into the possession of the The Gonzaga family (fl. 1328-1708) in 1441 through Paola Malatesta (b. 1393, d. 1449), Italian noblewoman by inheritance from her brother Pandolfo, Bishop of Patras (d. 1441)
Bought by James Ludovic Lindsay (b. 1847, d. 1913), 26th Earl of Crawford from Thomas and William Boone (fl. 1817-1872), booksellers of 29, New Bond Street, London, on 23 February 1866 for £200 for the three volumes (CLR, 1863-70, nos. 1200, 1216)
