    Abstract:

    Collection of liturgical poems in Hebrew and Judeo-Arabic. Eleven Hebrew liturgical poems for the Havdalah, the ceremony for the end of Shabbat, on folios 1a-9b, are followed by seventeen piyyutim. Incomplete at the end and probably also at the beginning. The letters belonging to the poems' acrostics are usually marked with three dots. A different hand added another piyyut on 22b. According to Moses Gaster this is an eighteenth-century Moroccan manuscript.


    Foliation:

    Lead pencil foliation in Arabic numerals at the top outer corner of side a of each folio. Another foliation in Arabic numerals is crossed out. Folios between respectively folios 9 and 10 and folios 12 and 13 are numbered "9A" and "12A".

    Paper with watermarks: folios 3, 11 BRIO, folio 4tail of a dragon, folio 9A, folio 12 L, folio 13crown, folios 15, 16 circle.
    Provenance:
    Two paper labels on spine, bottom one with number 1497.
    Front paste-down: Handwritten in blue crayon number 1497.
    Front fly-leaf and folio 2a: Handwritten in lead pencil number 1497.
    Folio 1a: signature of Moses Gaster.


    Condition:

    Water stains. Top outer corner of folios 1-3 ripped, with some text loss on folio 1. Repair paper on bifolia 9-9A.


    Additions:
    On folio 22b a different hand added another poem which does not continue the brief beginning of the preceding piyyut.
