Provenienz: Der Brief des Reformators Philipp Melanchthon (1497-1560) diente als hinteres Vorsatzblatt eines Werkes des Christoph Preuß (M. T. Ciceronis vita, et studiorum rerumque gestarum historia ex eius ipsius libris, testimoniisque potissimum observata atque conscripta. Basel: Lucius,1555; Signatur: 8 H.lit. 444). Vermutlich war es Preuß selbst, der den Brief einbinden ließ. Auf der Vorder- und Rückseite des Vorsatzblattes des Briefes finden sich spätere Besitzeinträge. Auf der leeren Rückseite des zweiten Briefblattes und auf dem folgenden hinteren Vorsatzblatt ist der Brief von einer Hand des 18./19. Jahrhunderts noch einmal abgeschrieben.Sections of the document:
