- Description
-
- Summary:
Manuscript 528, dating back to the thirteenth and fourteenth century, was part of Ter Doest Abbey. It contains Organum musices by Boethius (c. 480-524), as well as others works from the author. In Organum musices Boethius gives commentary on the mensural music notation. The commentary is split into six sections: the measurements of time in long and short notes; the music notation for these notes; the meaning of the music notation; the six modes; imperfect mode; the music notation for the imperfect mode. The text is accompanied by glosses. [Summary by Sarah Vanroye]
