portraits in the Mughal styles of the courts of Shah Jehan and
Aurangzeb; (2) Fifteen portraits and pictures; (3) Ten pictures of
Hindu deities; interleaved with 8 calligraphic specimens. Created
in India, 17th-18th centuries.
Extent: 38 leaves. 520 x 400 mm (binding).
Binding: Disbound, binding retained. 19th century quarter calf,
pasteboard covers faced with silk; paper label on spine: Hindu
drawings.
Provenance: Bequest of Francis Douce (1757-1834). Several items
bear the ownership stamp of Sir Elijah Impey.
