  • Summary:
    Manuscript 403, dating back to 1175-1200, contains part of the Magnum legendarium Flandrense. This legendary contains a collection of the lives of saints, focussing on Flemish saints. The manuscript was in possession of Ter Doest Abbey. The beginning of each saint's life is indicated by a colourful ornamental initial. The manuscript contains the life of Bruges saint Charles the Good. On Folio 92 he is pictured kneeling in a sketch in the margins on the left. [Summary by Sarah Vanroye]
