Physical Description:
145 leaves, bound : vellum ; 16 cm.Notes:
Judging by style and codicology, the ms. was probably written in the convent of Cistercian nuns at Medingen, Germany. See curatorial file.
Written in more than one gothic textura book hand in long lines. Initial letters are in various colors with decoration including burnished gold. Some letters are unfinished, having the ground applied but not gilded. There are 9 larger initials with part-borders. Some initials have protective silk veils sewn over them. On. f. 112v the initial is pinned onto the leaf.
Illustrations of figures, all holding scrolls with texts associated with them: Isaiah (f. 25r), two angels (76v, the scroll text being antiphons), David playing the harp and St. Bernard (75r), St. Gregory (80v), St. Ambrose (81r), St. Anselm (106r).
Bound in 18th-century mottled calf, gilt on spine, edges cut down and marbled.
