This manuscript contains a complete monastic breviary. The
decoration consists of red, blue and green initials with additional
pen and ink drawings of floral, anthropomorphic and zoomorphic
motifs. Several initials on the first pages (ff. 8-11) were framed
on a gold background, probably at a later time. Of French origin,
this breviary was used in Payerne from the 12th century on; after
the secularization of the priory, it passed into private ownership.
