Description
  • Summary:
Manuscript 114 contains De trinitate and other texts by Augustine of Hippo (354 - 430). The texts were copied by a lay called brother Henricus, active at Ter Doest Abbey. Folio's 1r to 164r date from the thirteenth century. Folio's 164v-165v were added in the seventeenth century by Carolus De Visch. Folio's 165v and 165v contain texts about the fusion of Cistercian abbeys Ter Doest and Ten Duinen. This includes a text by Philip IV of Spain (1605 - 1665). The manuscript has very little decoration: initials are decorated in red and blue with pen; the embellishments continue up into the margins. Folio 164r contains a typical decoration for lay brother Henricus: an initial H with a man's head in its stem. [Summary by Sarah Vanroye]
