Description
  • Summary: CCCC MS 393 contains the Historia Eliensis, an account of the history of the Benedictine cathedral priory of Ely written c. 1130 at Ely, with press marks and inscriptions revealing that it remained there throughout the medieval period. The manuscript contains a number of important hagiographical texts relating to the lives and miracles of saints associated with the priory, including the unique copy of the Vita et miracula Sanctae Etheldredae metrice by Gregory of Ely OSB (d. after 1116), and another important text describing the posthumous miracles of St Etheldreda.
